About The Bowers & Wilkins ASW610XP Subwoofer

The Bowers & Wilkins ASW610XP finished in Matte Black is the most powerful of the 600 Series subwoofers & dynamically delivers the finishing touch – or finishing thump – to a hi-fi or home theatre system for larger rooms.

The new 600 Series from Bowers & Wilkins transforms your home with pristine sound. Since 1966, Bowers & Wilkins have made technological advances to design the perfect loudspeaker, and their latest innovations bring that heritage to music and movie lovers alike. The 600 Series includes three subwoofers, ranging from the compact ASW608 to the powerful ASW610XP. Each boasts an audiophile-standard, highly efficient Class D amplifier to capture every spine-tingling, water-shaking sound that you hear. Each of the subwoofers are finished to match the rest of the series, with beautiful matte black or satin white to seamlessly integrate with your home. With the sixth generation of the 600 Series, you can truly transform your space into a beautiful sound session.

Custom Design Long Throw Driver: Its long-throw 250mm driver allows the ASW610XP to move the large volumes of air needed for high-quality low-frequency output, and its audiophile-standard 500 Watt Class D amplifier keeps the unit running cool, even when the music or movie action is whipping up a storm.

In all of the 600 Series subwoofers, the bass driver diaphragms are constructed from a rugged, finely-tuned mix of paper pulp, Kevlar® fibres and resin, which provides the stiffness needed to withstand the tremendous physical forces exerted by the voice coil and pressures inside the cabinet.

Kevlar: Kevlar has been a Bowers & Wilkins hallmark since 1974 and for good reason. Impregnated with a stiffening resin, and then treated with a polymer coat that seals the fibre and adds damping, Kevlar maintains a more constant dispersion pattern at all frequencies in its range than any other cone material. The result? Far fewer delayed, time-smearing sounds, and an exceptionally clean, precise performance.

500 Watt Amplifier: To power the ASW610XP, Bowers & Wilkins engineered a completely new 500 Watt Class D amplifier with a regulated, switching power supply. This approach helps make the amplifier more compact, lightweight and efficient, while still delivering ample, clean power to fully complement the 250mm woofer's performance.

Ultra-solid construction delivers slamming bass, drum kicks, and special movie effects. Deformation is minimised; bass precision, power and enjoyment are maximised.

In The News

As forceful as it is articulate - not cheap, but ideal for big bass from a small box. Formidable extension and ability from a surprisingly compact box. Sounds as exciting with music as it does with films. What Hi-Fi?

Our Take

Subwoofers tend to fall into two categories: on the one side, there are the bigger boxes that can move a lot of air but which aren't particularly living-room-friendly; and on the other, there's the smaller kit which is easy enough to hide behind your sofa but which, with a few exceptions, tends to sound as small as it looks.

Bowers & Wilkins's ASW610XP is designed to offer the best of both worlds. A sibling of the company's acclaimed ASW610, the 'XP is small, just 320mm tall, but thanks to its ultra-stiff, long-throw 250mm drive unit and formidable 500 Watt Class D power amp, it sounds genuinely massive.

As with all recent Bowers & Wilkins subs, the 'XP is a sealed-box enclosure, its complex Kevlar/paper drive unit ensuring minimal deformation under even the most extreme duress: push the Bowers & Wilkins very, very hard, and it'll maintain a stringent accuracy that few rivals can equal.
