About The Rotel A10 Stereo Amplifier
The Rotel A10 is a 40 Watt per channel integrated amplifier that will satisfy both the audio purist and those who simply want to know they've purchased a great product and those who don't require high power output or digital streaming capability. Its straightforward operation is refreshing and its performance is a pleasure to listen to and is really a modern version of a stereo integrated amplifier of the 1960's - 1970's era (the Golden Years of Stereo) even including A and B speaker outputs!
So if you are considering taking your first step into a true hi-fi system or are seeking a small, high quality audio system for another living space, you won't go wrong with the A10 integrated amplifier, am amplifier that is all about maximum performance for the price. Its design has stripped away added features that increase the overall cost and at this price-point definitely detract from your musical performance.
Simple to operate and a pleasure to listen to, the A10 has connectivity for all your listening sources including an analogue media input (3.5mm mini-jack) for iOS devices or other media players, a CD input, a MM phono input in case your taste runs to classic LPs, a Tuner input to listen to your favourite radio stations and two Aux inputs for other analogue source devices.
The A10 is a full featured, high performance component. All aspects of the design have been optimised to retain the full dynamic range and subtle nuances of your music. The unit has a highly regulated power supply incorporating a Rotel custom-designed toroidal power transformer. This low impedance power supply has ample power reserves, which enables the unit to easily reproduce the most demanding audio signals. This type of design is more expensive to manufacture, but it is better for the music.
The printed circuit boards (PCB) are designed with Symmetrical Circuit Traces. This insures that the precise timing of the music is maintained and faithfully recreated. The circuitry uses metal film resistors and polystyrene or polypropylene capacitors in important signal paths. All aspects of this design have been examined to ensure the most faithful music reproduction.
The main functions of the A10 are easy to install and use. If you have experience with other stereo systems, you shouldn't find anything perplexing. Simply plug in your associated components of choice and enjoy.
In The News
"We used a Rega turntable when we first tested the RA-10, and that's the combination we come back to. The excellent Rega RP3/Elys 2 turntable, to be exact, and as the needle makes its way around Tom Waits's Closing Time we are reminded of just how good this pairing sounds.
As Waits strolls through Virginia Avenue with his gravel-tinged mutterings, the piano notes are punchy and delicate, while the saxophone shows off the amp's dynamic subtlety. We love the way the Rotel handles voices, and its detailed and melodic midrange excels with simple, vocal-led tracks. Nuances of tone and emotion are laid bare in Waits's Martha: his voice achingly intimate, the piano bittersweet and heartfelt.
It's not until we plug in the terrifically balanced and subtle Acoustic Energy 301s that the Rotel finally relaxes and comes out of its shell, filling the room with an authoritative sound that's full of punchy detail and soaring dynamics.
Switch to quirky pop track Settle Down by Kimbra, and the Rotel charges through the calculated rhythm changes with power and vigour. The drum beats are full-bodied and agile, while her lilting voice rings clear and hits the high notes without feeling cramped.
Verdict: If you have your heart set on a simple analogue amplifier that favours rich melodies over outright precision, then we're quite sure you'll love the Rotel RA-10."
