Like us you will be super-impressed with the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable. It is not only right up there when it comes to value, but embodies all the warm and smooth tones that playing vinyl is all about. And judging by our sales, customer feedback and how many people around the world have watched our video tutorial, then that is obviously true. This description is for the latest design and you may wonder why Pro-Ject would even play-around with a successful model. Well there is no need to be concerned as the engineers at Pro-Ject have kept all the major elements just adding a couple of upgrades to make it sound even better.
History: The first Debut turntable, introduced in the late 1990s, was a revolution for the hi-fi industry. For the first time after the arrival of Compact Disc and the assumed demise of vinyl records, an analogue product re-emerged in the “mass market” – something all music lovers could afford.
Main Features: Fully manual operation coupled with the best materials and components available ensures the best possible value. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is possibly the World's Best Entry-Level turntable/record player. The Rega Planar 1 is its only real competitor at this price. It is already a Best Seller and for good reason - the sound!
The new Debut Carbon has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade – perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables is growing again!
Engineering: The Debut Carbon Turntable from Pro-Ject is a killer deal! Pro-Ject has really created something special with this turntable! It features: a low-tolerance, chrome plated, stainless-steel axle that runs on a polished bearing in a brass housing, decoupled from the motor to reduce vibrations; a great tonearm with a bearing that comprises inverted hardened stainless-steel points and sapphire thrust-pads; a silicone damped arm lift; and a high quality leads from the headshell to the RCA connectors. The headshell and arm tube are formed from a single carbon work piece, rotation allows adjustment of azimuth with a fixed headshell. The platter is made from steel platter and is covered with a felt mat.
In addition to the Carbon Fibre Tonearm with its increased rigidity that delivers lower reverberation, there is a new DC motor with built-in power supply. The heavier platter that delivers improved wow and flutter and the improved Sorbothane motor suspension that delivers less vibration and minimises 'rumble' have both been carried over to this latest model. Pro-Ject claim that the suspension makes for an interference-free drive mechanism.
Set Up & Connection Is Easy: You may think that setting up a quality Turntable is a challenge for a new comer. However, when unpacked it is virtually ready-to-go! The Debut Carbon also includes a pre-installed Ortofon 2M Red Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge making this turntable a complete package. It is simple to set-up and will get you spinning LPs within minutes. See our Video Tutorial (link above) which has helped 1000's world-wide set up their Debut Carbon. This version of the Debut Carbon Turntable simply connects to your stereo system via a set of RCA interconnects, but these must be connected to a standard phono input. If you have an Amplifier or Receiver that has been manufactured after the year 2000 it probably doesn't have a proper Phono input. Therefore you will need a Phono Preamplifier.
Note: You cannot connect this Turntable to an AUX or Line Input. It needs to be connected into an Input clearly marked Phono. If you only have an AUX or Line Input then you will need a Phono Preamplifier and probably a pair of Interconnects. The first Debut turntable, introduced in the late 1990s, was a revolution for the hi-fi industry. For the first time after the arrival of Compact Disc and the assumed demise of vinyl records, an analogue product re-emerged in the “mass market” – something all music lovers could afford. Here's a couple of comments from the hi-fi press.
"While the Carbon does not offer the level of refinement generated by top-notch vinyl rigs, it’s a fantastic place to start an analogue crush, as it does a superb job with fundamentals. Moreover, when used in concert with modest gear, it provides musicality that MP3 players and inexpensive CD players cannot match. Yes, this ‘table is all you need to get hooked on analog. Hence, we are thrilled to give the Carbon an Exceptional Value Award for 2012. A snap to set up, it offers fantastic performance and an easy upgrade path." AnalogAholic. Read Story

Keep It Clean Mate! To get the best performance, your records need to be clean. Arguably the best device available - especially for the price - is the German designed and made - yes you read correctly - is the Knosti Record Cleaning Machine. This simple and clever design is easy to use and will remove most dust and grime from the grooves.
