Richter Wizard S6 Plus Speakers
The Wizard series of loudspeakers are a true legendary product of the Australian Audio industry and were awarded an Ultimate product of the last 30 years by Sound & Image magazine. The New Wizard Series 6 Plus Floorstanding Speakers are a redefined version of the previous Series 6 model and have raised the performance bar yet again. To achieve that the Wizard S6 Plus speakers have borrowed tech from Richter's Premium Special Edition Range and now uses the same premium soft dome tweeter partnered with the improved 6½ inch mid/bass drivers. The improvement these new drivers bring allowed Richter's engineers to also update the crossover design while still using the same high quality acoustic polypropylene caps and air cored and ferrite core inductors. The result is an even more exciting engaging entertainment experience to keep you digging through your record and CD collection or swiping through your favourite streaming service.
The Wizard S6 Plus is the top of the S6 Plus range and benefits the most from the development and borrowed tec from Richter's Premium Special Edition range. It delivers significant improvements across the audio range including additional bass control to take your entertainment experience to the next level.
Premium Tweeter: The new tweeter, borrowed from the Premium Special Edition range, deliveries considerably better sensitivity with a lower resonance frequency and double the power handling resulting in a new level of clarity and engagement - like lifting a veil on the music.
Improved Drivers: The 6½" (165 mm) lightweight midrange/bass drivers have been improved for the Wizard S6 Plus. They exhibit notable advancements, particularly around the 1kHz range. There's also a commendable reduction of approximately 10% in nonlinear distortion compared to its predecessor. This all helps the Plus sound audibly smoother and more open sounding.
Improved Wizard Crossover: Using these improved drivers allowed Richter to borrow the design approach developed for the Premium Wizard Special Edition. Combined with the additional bass port puck for even better bass management the Wizard S6 Plus is going to ensure the Wizard series continues to be an iconic product for years to come.
Improved Bass Control: The Wizard now also come with an additional bass port foam puck which provides an ideal middle ground bass response catering for different room sizes and conditions as well as users preferred taste. Richter call it the Goldilocks affect – if the Bass Plugs Inserted reduces the bass response too much and the Bass Plugs Removed energises the bass response too much, then using the additional Bass Port Puck, which only partly closes the port, should provide the perfect middle ground.

"Given that Richter named this speaker 'The Wizard', it was very — very! — tempting to conclude this review with a cheap play on words, such as by stating that the Wizard Series 6Plus design 'is the company's best trick yet' or that it's 'one right out of the hat'. But concluding that way would be doing a serious disservice to the work of Richter's long-serving designer, Dr Martin Gosnell (BEEng Honours), who has not only been granted numerous patents for his work but has also won the prestigious Australian Museum Eureka Award for Science and Innovation. Our Take On The Richter Wizard S6 Plus Speakers
The Richter design team is headed up by Dr. Martin Gosnell BE (Hons) PhD who has worked with Richter since approx. 2000 and is supported by the very experienced and highly respected Audio Engineer Brad Serhan. Together with the experience of audiophile owner Brian Rodgers they have really set a new benchmark in Australian speaker design. You could pay a whole lot more for an international brand name and get not only an inferior product, but one that doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the Wizard S6 Plus. The Wizard S6 Plus has improved tweeters, mid/bass drivers and crossovers over the standard Wizard Series 6's. So, just about everything has changed, apart from the general dimensions.
