Silcron Podium Tri-S Speaker Stands
The Silcron Podium Tri-S Speaker Stands are a three column design which are manufactured of sturdy steel and finished in a Classic Matte Black. They are fitted with height adjustable spiked feet and can hold up to 18 kg speakers, which should cover everything you might want to put on them. They are 600mm high, a height that we find suits most smaller stand mount speakers. The top plate is 175mm wide by 230mm deep and the bottom plate is 205mm wide by 280mm deep to keep the stand and speaker as steady and stable as possible. The bottom plate is an impressive 3 mm thick and the whole speaker stand is well constructed and finished.
Why Do You Need Speaker Stands?
That question is often quickly followed up with another: "Can't they just sit on the floor?" The truth is you can put the speakers wherever you like but the location and positioning absolutely and significantly affect performance. When bookshelf sized speakers are placed on the floor or against a wall their sonic output becomes 'connected' to the floor or walls. This results in sound that is muddy, distorted and lacking in clarity. Speaker stands elevate and isolate speakers from floors and walls. Sound is clearer and cleaner with much better imaging and a greater sense of realism.
How To Make Stands Even Better: Where appropriate – such as with the hollow Silcron columns, the ends can be sealed and 'filled' to further dampen vibrations, help minimise unwanted resonances and as a bonus extra, provide added stability. Audio Trends recommend that you fill the stands with Atacama Atabites inert filler to achieve maximum sonic performance.
