TonTräger Harbeth P3 Speaker Stands
"On a TonTräger this mini Harbeth grows to new heights"
TonTräger reference stands have been specially developed for Harbeth monitors. For all five Harbeth models, these custom made stands are available in complementary designs.
TonTräger reference stands support the speakers to their fullest potential, offering unparalleled sound quality. The design of the reference stands corresponds amazingly to the speakers and unites both into an ensemble.
Construction: All TonTräger products are manufactured in an artisanal, traditional way. Classic wooden joints are used and the frame construction of the reference stands is developed on the principle of light-weight construction. The profile of the frame structure is well balanced between filigree appearance and the required stability.
Extended Tenons: The frames are joined with a mortise and tenon joint. The so-called "extended tenons" are evolved out of the wood connection to form the four contact points for the speaker to rest on. The "extended tenons" replace the use of spikes, with the upper tenons absorbing cabinet resonances while the lower tenons serve to decouple external influences.
ToneBed: An oval hollow on top of the tenons reduces the contact surface to achieve maximum form fit. The TonBeds prevent, so called, vibration bridges.
Logo: The TonTräger logo is made of high quality brass and the TonTräger column is cut out using Microcut waterjet technology.
Construction Material: Wood is unsurpassed in its sonic characteristics and is ideally suited to the construction of sound furniture especially because vibrations are particularly well absorbed.
Surface: The elaborately finished surface is purpose-designed by TonTräger. Pigments and solvent-free natural oils are applied by hand in several painstaking steps. The result is a durable, tactile and visually appealing surface. Through the deep black, silky, lustrous finish, the distinctive wood grain is still preserved.
Placement: The TonTräger reference stands are easy to set up. For speaker placement, small wooden plates are included as an adjustment aid and paper strips are included with the delivery to compensate for any minor irregularities. For optimum listening results we recommend placing your stands on a slate plate.

'Green' Eco-Credible Stand range welcomed by Harbeth: Sustainably-sourced beech timber from German forests is painstakingly transformed into hand-made stands during a labour-intensive process in Füssen. Everything about the products is natural: the power used is from hydro, glues are water-based and solvent-free, the coating from oil and wax. Even the company's bank is selected because of its ecological credentials.
Traditional carpentry skills ensure rigidity; not glues, metals or plastics. Even the (eco-plastic and vegetable starch) packaging is sustainable and the transport used is gas-powered.
The duo of Eva-Maria Weichmann and Ralf Sieg give a percentage of their profits to good causes including Rainforest Rescue and German conservation projects.
"Having met Eva and Ralf, and learned about the skill and dedication they use to produce beautiful eco-stands, they are to be commended", said Harbeth's MD Alan Shaw. "Theirs is a genuine labour of love and with true regard for the environment."
About TonTräger
TonTräger is a young creative company based in Füssen, Germany crafting high-end sound furniture. With a long-desired and newly-acquired pair of loudspeakers from Harbeth, company founders Eva-Maria Weichmann and Ralf Sieg were faced with the dilemma of where to place these precious pieces?!
As two fully-fledged artisans and music lovers – encouraged by the statement "...placed on the right stands, you can get much more out of it..." – they saw nothing more natural than to get to work and develop their own stands.
Fortunately, they also had the support of professionals with Dietmar Sutter and the team from 'HiFi-Bauernhof', Altusried playing an advisory role. Together they worked out the requirements the new loudspeaker stands needed to fulfil and this provided the basis for the development of the first ecological solid wood loudspeaker stands suited to all Harbeth speakers.
TonTräger Stand Review
These all-wood German stands, light weight with mortise-and-tenon construction, using only water-based glue and eschewing any plastic or metal, are unbelievably strong and rigid. Supporting PS's Harbeth Monitor 40.3s, the TonTrägers provided greater dynamic range, clarity, articulation, and definition, with none, but none, of the typical excessively etched, edgy, analytical penalties of spiked metal stands. Although made for Harbeths - there's a stand for every model in the line - they should prove equally effective with any speaker requiring stand mounting, provided the TonTrägers fit the speaker's footprint and situate its tweeters at ear level. Our Take On TonTräger Speaker Stands
These stands come as something or a breath of fresh air in a world where bigger and heavier is the norm. We traditionally think that speaker stands need to be all about solidity, with spikes on the bottom and hollow insides to fill with stuff to dampen down resonances. But what if you went the exact opposite direction and made your stands completely out of light weight wood, with no spikes and no resonances? Well, if you were as good at designing as Eva-Maria Weichmann and Ralf Sieg then you would come up with something like the TonTräger speaker stands we have here. This is not a stand specially made for bass, detail, midrange, speed, dynamics, high notes or whatever, it is a stand designed to support all the virtues of Harbeth speakers without adding any character of its own, you can't ask more of a stand. We think the TonTräger speaker stands make Harbeths sound like they're floating on air.
