About Yamaha R-N602 Receiver
Not everyone wants a Home Theatre Receiver but there has been a cry from radio fans to give them the latest networking functions in a product without the extra perceived complications. That feedback prompted Yamaha to design the R-N500. The R-N602 builds on that success but adds Yamaha MusicCast - the easy way to expand your music into various rooms and unleash all the music from your smartphone or tablet not in one room but through every room. You still get all the latest network capability. You can still enjoy 1000's of radio stations from around the world via the Internet. Where many stereo Receivers stop short of streaming music options, the R-N602 embraces them all with full support for Apple AirPlay and DLNA-compatible devices. Connect this Receiver to your home network router and turn your compatible computer, smartphone or tablet into bona fide wireless sources. Enjoy sweet music alongside your CD or Blu-ray player, record player, and other components thanks to the R-N602's high-power, low-noise construction.
Yamaha MusicCast Multi-Room
This is big news and a real point of difference between Yamaha and every other manufacturer. MusicCast is a new revolution in network audio. MusicCast employs a high performance wireless network to deliver music and audio enjoyment to multiple components in multiple rooms...and easily. There are no extra "devices" to purchase to make it work thus saving you money and time. MusicCast can stream digital music content from your smartphone, PC or NAS drive to other MusicCast devices in your home. It can also share the music from external devices such as a TV or CD player connected to the RN-602 network stereo receiver. Audio content from Bluetooth-connected devices can also be streamed to MusicCast devices in multiple rooms. Use all your MusicCast products together or separately, it's completely up to you. Control it, all from one app, designed to be intuitive, quick and simple to use. Use a Yamaha soundbar, wireless speaker, AV Receiver or compatible Hi-Fi amplifier, whatever suits you best, mix and match then expand your MusicCast system as time goes on. All new from Yamaha, the MusicCast system brings everything to everywhere for everyone.
Stream Your iTunes Library Via Apple AirPlay: If you use any Apple portable devices or iTunes on your computer, then you'll love the R-N500's built-in support for Apple AirPlay. It lets you stream music directly from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, no wires required. Plus, if you have a large iTunes library on a networked computer, all those songs can be sent to the receiver as well. If you're not an Apple user, this receiver's DLNA-compatibility opens up wireless streaming to compatible PCs, music servers, and Android devices. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network or a wireless connection using the optional Yamaha Wi-Fi adapter.
Stream Millions of Songs with Spotify Connect: With the Spotify app on your smartphone, you've got instant access to millions of songs. And now you can stream those songs to your Yamaha system by using Spotify Connect. Just hit play to start streaming music. What's more, when you've been listening on your smartphone outside and come inside, the song immediately streams to your receiver—like magic, you enjoy uninterrupted music. You can also personalise playlists and receive phone calls while listening to music.
Free Yamaha Control app for Apple & Android Devices: A network connection also offers you the opportunity for smartphone control using Yamaha's free Network Player Controller app. Download it to your Apple or Android device to use it as Wi-Fi remote. It lets you select streaming music options and even view album artwork with select sources. Yamaha plans future firmware upgrades to add more Internet music choices to the R-N602.
Audio Quality Not Sacrificed
Yamaha employs their tried and tested ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) design concept, which combines the latest and best technologies, components and circuit designs to maximise sound quality. It is what we call High Current Amplification and this design uses superior quality components from input to output to achieve high current power with low impedance drive capability. In other words, the R-N602 will handle with ease a wide range of speaker systems even those rated at 4 Ohm impedance. With 80 Watts of full-bandwidth power per channel at 8 Ohms with only 0.04% THD, the R-N602 delivers solid, reliable audio performance even when driving both A & B speakers - another popular inclusion from the past - at the same time. Consumers will also be happy that the unit has bass, treble and loudness controls which can also be bypassed if preferred.
Numerous Connectivity Options: In addition to network sources, the R-N602 offers plenty of digital and analogue inputs for sources like disc players, turntables (and even cassette decks) for audio dubbing. Of course, if you're interested in more modern equipment, there's a front-panel USB port! It offers a direct digital connection for iPods, iPads and iPhones. It also accepts USB thumb drives — perfect for loading high-resolution FLAC and WAV files to take advantage of this player's 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analogue conversion.
Digital Audio Input for TV or Blu-ray Player: The R-N602 has a digital audio input - with both optical and coaxial terminals. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray player. The audio stays in the digital domain, giving you pure, pristine dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources, from sports and other programmes to movies and concerts.
The Yamaha R-N602 is the Swiss Army Knife of Stereo Receivers. It seems to have a feature for every conceivable use. Taking up where the ever popular R-N500 left off the R-N602 not only has a well designed AM/FM Tuner on board but it also has a great sounding amplifier section bound to woo the keenest music lover. But wait, there's more. As well as the usual analogue connections (including a turntable input & subwoofer out) the R-N602 includes a really useful array of digital inputs which mean you can hook up (big breath), an iPod, iPhone, iPad or thumb drive to the front USB port, a Yamaha wireless adaptor to the rear USB port, a TV to the optical port and your computer network to the ethernet port. Sounds like any port in a storm. And thats just some of the physical connections. The wireless capabilities will likely blow your mind (I'm still putting mine back together). One of the truly biggest innovations with this rip snorting product is the introduction of Yamaha MusicCast which is explained in greater detail above but basically enables you to use the wonderfully designed Yamaha App to control all your music all over your house from your smartphone or tablet. Hmmmm. If we're nit-picking we have to admit it won't make you toast & coffee for breakfast - but maybe that's next years update.
