About Yamaha YSP-5600MK2 Soundbar
You have probably been told by a friend or are just on the ball and know that Yamaha does sound bars the right way. Now, imagine getting completely enveloping Atmos sound from one easy-to-setup speaker. The game-changing Yamaha YSP-5600MK2 Digital Sound Projector can give you just that. Under the front grille are 44 precisely calculated and positioned speakers all controlled by an individual delay time and driven with its own independent amplifier circuit with real 3D surround sound reproduction. In addition their is a phantom Surround channel which is merged to support the equivalent of up to 7.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos or DTS:X reproduction - see below for more info.
Yamaha Music Cast: We're all playing music more than ever so the YSP-5600MK2 doesn't just have to sit idle when the TV is off. Built-in 2-way Bluetooth gives you more freedom so you can quickly "stream" a song from YouTube or SoundCloud directly to the speaker from any smartphone or tablet through the Yamaha MusicCast system with no restrictions. You can also send audio from the YSP-5600MK2 to other Bluetooth-enabled hardware. That means you can play MusicCast sound through portable speakers and wireless headphones.
Real 3D Surround Sound Reproduction Realised in a Single Unit by Digital Surround Projector Technology
Under the front grille are 44 precisely calculated and positioned speakers. So you can experience an amazing home theatre experience, there are 7-channel sound beams (Front Left/Right, Centre, Surround Left/Right, Height Left/Right) and each one of the 44 speakers is controlled by and individual delay time and driven with its own independent amplifier circuit. These beams are projected onto your walls and ceiling, to be reflected accurately to the listening position. This creates the illusion that you actually have real wall and ceiling speakers with real 3D surround sound reproduction. In addition, the YSP-5600MK2 uses the Surround channel sound beam for Surround Back, and the Surround channel is phantom merged to support the equivalent of up to 7.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos or DTS:X reproduction although only Dolby Atmos comes with the soundbar. DTS:X will be added via a firmware upgrade sometime in the future - call us for the latest information.
MusicCast - The Game Has Changed!
Multi-room audio is big business. From the early 1960's, solid state amps started by offering connection to a second pair of speakers. By the 1990's this had developed into whole house systems needing complicated electronics and miles of wiring. The US company Sonos reinvented the game in 2005 with products that eliminated all the hassle. Every major player now wants a piece of the action and Yamaha has gone one step further and is now integrating into all their new home entertainment gear. It is called MusicCast and the YSP-5600 has it built-in giving you lots of music sources to choose including your personal digital music library, Internet radio, and popular streaming services like Pandora. If you're a Spotify Premium subscriber, Spotify Connect lets you access all your favourite albums and playlists. MusicCast even supports high-resolution audio formats. You can play the same song or music service in a room or group of rooms, while you play different music in other parts of the house. You can even send TV sound or another connected source from the YSP-5600MK2 sound bar to other MusicCast systems.
MusicCast Expands Entertainment Possibilities
MusicCast employs a high performance wireless network to deliver music and audio enjoyment. It can stream digital music content from your smartphone, PC or NAS to other MusicCast devices in your home. It can also share the music from external devices such as a TV or BD player connected to the YSP-5600MK2. Audio content from Bluetooth-connected smartphones or tablets can also be streamed to MusicCast devices in multiple rooms.
Incorporates the First YSP to Create a Height Channel by Using Sound Beams from Specific Array Speakers
Height channel audio playback is realised by placing six array speakers at each end of the unit (a total of 12). For these array speakers, 28mm diameter units are used. In order to obtain the maximum sound beam effect, they are mounted on an angled baffle and sound beam vertical control is adapted. Sound field reproduction is just as if real speakers were mounted on the ceiling, so you get great sound without the bother of mounting speakers and stringing wires.
Height Channel Positions Can Be Precisely Adjusted: For reproduction of the latest surround sound formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, the relationship between the listening position and the height channel locations is very important for faithful reproduction of the sound space. The YSP-5600MK2 adjusts the angle of the sound beam directed at the ceiling allowing the height channel position to be matched to the listening position either manually or automatically. Even if the listening position relative to the display changes, you'll get the effect of the height channel for natural 3D surround sound.
Directed Sound Beams Realise Distinct Height Channel Audio: The height speakers can be located as close to the listening position as the centre speakers and their positions and sound quality have a large effect on the live performance feeling created by multi-dimensional sound. By using directed beams reflected just once off the ceiling for reproducing the height channels, the YSP-5600MK2 obtains a sharp sound position and distinct sound, ensuring realistic reproduction of environmental sounds such as thunder. You'll experience the thrill of 3D surround sound that “rains from heaven.
CINEMA DSP and Cinema DSP 3D Mode
Yamaha CINEMA DSP technology creates thrillingly realistic soundscapes in any room. Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. There is a total of 10 Cinema DSP modes in Movie, Music and Entertainment genre. Then there are 4 Listening Modes under the Cinema DSP 3D Digital mode - see below.
Yamaha CINEMA DSP 3D Digital is much more advanced and adds an expansive "height" direction to the sound field, creating a rich surround space and accurately reproducing this in an intensive stereoscopic sound field in your listening room. The YSP-5600MK2 supports this feature by using special array speakers to create vertical beams. You can enjoy the feeling of a live performance with standard sound formats, and combine this effect with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X to enjoy a more natural expansion of the 3D surround sound.
Choose One of Four Listening Modes to Match Your Scenario
The YSP-5600MK2 is equipped with four listening modes: 3D Surround, which commands five horizontal beams and two vertical beams to recreate the equivalent of up to a 7.1.2 channel three-dimensional sound field; Surround, which uses five horizontal beams to perform normal 5.1 channel surround playback; Stereo, which uses a special vertical beam speaker as a tweeter to produce high sound quality 2-channel stereo from audio sources; and Target, which aims monaural speech clearly to a precise location in the room. In 3D Surround mode you can optionally select CINEMA DSP 3D Mode, while in Surround mode you can optionally select CINEMA DSP, providing a wider variety of sound field programs.
