AMC 2100 MKII Power Amplifier
The AMC 2100 MKII is a fairly straightforward power amplifier with one or two tricks up its sleeve. Interestingly, it is made in the same factory as the iconic NAD 3020i integrated amplifier from 1991 and even has the same green power button as that famous model.
The AMC 2100 MKII is a conventional Class AB Stereo Power Amplifier that is high current and able to power almost any speakers to high levels, no matter the load.
As standard, you can use it in stereo mode and it outputs 100 Watts into 8 Ohms and doubles that to 200 Watts into 4 Ohms which means the power supply is more than up to the task. But, if you need even more good clean power, you can bridge it into mono and it produces 250 Watts into 8 Ohms. Not bad for an amplifier in this price range.
Audiophile Grade Components: Although the case is deliberately Spartan, no expense has been spared on all the bits you can't see, but which greatly effect performance. Audiophile grade components are used throughout, to make sure that the 2100 MKII provides superb sound quality.
Toroidal Transformer: Power supplies are the heart of any power amplifier and the transformer can make or break the quality of the power supply. Fortunately the 2100 MKII employs a huge toroidal transformer in the power supply which helps the amplifier deliver massive amounts of power into low impedance loads which means it will drive virtually any loudspeakers.
Turbo Output Stage: The AMC 2100 MKII power amplifier incorporates AMC's exclusive TOS™ (Turbo Output Stage) circuit topology to offer clean, clear sound quality, high efficiency, and lower distortion.
Input/Output Flexibility: Each input has an accompanying line output RCA jack which can pass the signal on to another amplifier's input for use in a Bi-Amp or Multi-Amp installation.
Gold Connectors: Helping to transfer all signals in and out of the amplifier in the most reliable way, all RCA connectors and the substantial binding post speaker terminals are gold plated for the most reliable audio connection. The heavy duty gold plated binding posts are designed to handle the extremely high peak currents that this amplifier is capable of.
High Current: The ability to really drive dynamic passive speakers is down to good current delivery and the 2100 MKII has everything you need. The amplifier section in the 2100 MKII includes 50 Amp high peak output devices and an optimised power supply design to keep speakers in check and provide the sort of dynamic drive modern music and home theatre demands.
About AMC
Since 1970, AMC has forged a reputation for being a powerful and reliable electronics manufacturer in the Hi-Fi and Smart Home business. AMC is responsible for some of the world's most famous brands and high-end esoteric electronics. Their main focus is to build reliable and powerful amplifiers with a life expectancy of at least 25 years.
Peter Bath and Malcolm Blockley, formerly at NAD, Acoustic Research, Proton and others, have harnessed the cost efficiencies that are available from AMC's "common-platform" product design and production efficiency to bring to market a product range that pretty much ticks all the boxes on an Audiophile's wish list … at very attractive prices.
