Arcam CD5 CD Player

The Arcam CD5 is part of the Arcam Radia range of components and is designed for all those intimate listening experiences with your favourite music.

ARCAM has been a pioneer of Compact Disc playback since the development and introduction of the Delta 70 CD Player in 1986, which was designed & engineered completely in-house. The experience of producing high quality digital audio products since then has been poured into the ARCAM CD5. New components and materials have been painstakingly analysed and reviewed to ensure brilliant sound quality. And, Hi-Res audio playback capability is included for FLAC and WAV encoded CD and USB files.

Radia family products offer a subtle symmetrical design that complements their aluminium shells. They are adorned with seamless front fascias and gentle lighting effects, creating a sense of power and finesse.

The casework showcases a smooth, matte black surface cut through with the new signature Radia yellow highlights. The rear sports a connector cowl, reminiscent of ornate rear diffusers found in performance cars, that effectively hides unsightly connector housings from view.

About Arcam

Arcam, originally A&R Cambridge, have been developing and making CD players for almost 30 years and, for over 40 years, they have been producing descendants of the A60 amplifier with which the company started in consumer electronics. Arcam launched the iconic A60 in 1976 and sold more than 30,000 units, many of which are still in use today.

As far back as 1995 Arcam expanded into home cinema electronics, developing a world-class reputation for making some of the best-sounding AV amplifiers. In home cinema Arcam have also developed their own DVD players and, more recently, Blu-ray players from scratch in the UK, engineering them using their decades of experience in CD players to ensure they play music as well as they do movies, delivering superb all-round performance.

Hard-won techniques for preserving and handling the most delicate signal and reproducing music with all its subtleties, nuances and excitement intact is in Arcam's blood. The company knows that as audio moves on from CD to even higher definition formats, their products will continue to serve the music faithfully and deliver maximum enjoyment to the listener. Hi-Fi and home cinema systems are always evolving, and Arcam are right across all the latest developments. Whatever future technology appears on the market Arcam will be at the forefront, engineering solutions that get the absolute best reproduction from whatever format is available.

Arcam CD5 Review

"The Arcam CD5 does one thing exceedingly well and that's playing CDs. If you want a greater level of clarity, timing precision and refinement than what this excellent player offers, then you're looking to spend more than double the money on the superlative Cyrus CDi – a multiple Award-winner …

There hasn't been a seriously good, seriously capable and seriously fun CD player of this level in a very long time. The Arcam CD5 changes that: it's a tremendously talented player that deserves an audition if you're still holding on to your beloved CDs and want to give them a new lease of life. Play them through the Arcam CD5 and you'll find yourself playing them over and over again." What Hi-Fi? 5 Star Review

Our Take On The Arcam CD5

The CD5 is the perfect silver disc complement to the Arcam Radia range of integrated amplifiers with styling that fits right in with the Radia vibe. It's nice to see a cool contemporary range offering what is now considered an old school CD Player for those who still have a plethora of compact discs on their shelves. Of course, the internals are as modern as the exterior with an ESS ES9018 Digital to Analogue Convertor making sure that all your spinning bits are converted to glorious analogue at the back panel outputs. And, if you want to augment your CD collection with some newly acquire digital music, there is the provision to play back numerous file types including WAV & FLAC from a USB stick if required. Always good to welcome a high performance CD Player into the store. Nice job, Arcam.
