About The AudioQuest Pearl Ethernet Cable
Over the past 25 years, AudioQuest has a well-earned reputation as a manufacturer of exceptional audio and video cables worldwide. Audioquest have used the finest materials and highest levels of manufacturing precision to develop their outstanding range of CAT-7 RJ/E Ethernet Cables designed to maximise your audio and video experience.
Over the past several years there's been a revolution in the way people store, distribute, and access digital media (in real time), including photos, movies, and, of course, music. No longer dependent on physical media, our media is often data that's moved from multiple devices to multiple locations. For audio applications and protocols, audio over Ethernet offers the virtues of high-speed, low time delay (latency), significant distance capability (328 feet without an active booster or repeater), and extremely low-jitter, bit-perfect communication. Who wouldn't want all of these things?
Ethernet Cat-7 Cable: Ethernet Cat-7 is the ideal cable for fast internet downloads, multi-player PC games, and movie or music streaming. AudioQuest's Pearl series Ethernet cable meets or exceeds the highest industry CAT-7 specifications. This Ethernet cable will deliver speeds up to 10 Gbps and uses individually shielded pairs to minimize crosstalk.
Solid Long Grain Copper Conductors: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid long-grain copper conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications, like Ethernet audio. These signals, being such a high frequency travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high quality Ethernet cables.
Solid High Density Polyethylene Insulation: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then later released as distortion. Solid High-Density Polyethylene Insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry while minimising insulation-induced phase distortion.
RJ-45 Connectors (Directional): All audio cables are directional. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. A gold-plated, nickel RJ-45 connector with 100% shield coverage is used on each end of the Ethernet cable. These gold-plated, nickel connectors maximise signal transfer and resist corrosion. Arrows are clearly marked on the RJ-45 connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For best results have the arrow pointing in the direction of the flow of music. For example, NAS to Router, Router to Network Player.
Terminology: RJ/E stands for Registered Jack/Ethernet
Our Take On The Pearl Ethernet
Unlike other types of digital data, audio requires precise timing of the signal to produce maximum musical realism. For sending digital audio from Point A to Point B, AudioQuest's Pearl Ethernet cable offers several advantages: high-speed, plus extremely low timing jitter and time delay (latency) and at a low price.
