About The Bowers & Wilkins FS700 S3 Speaker Stands
705 S3, 706 S3 and 707 S3 work best when positioned in their ideal listening position and at the correct height. The elegant FS700 S3 stands handle both tasks perfectly and are available in complementary black or silver finishes. Their upgraded design includes a subtle curvature to each column to match the front baffle of each speaker, a bright metal detail running up that column to further accent their premium design, and fillable columns that can be mass-loaded for outstanding stability and quietness. Cable management is also included – as is the option of securely bolting each model of speaker to the top-plate of the stand, ensuring optimum safety.
This elegant floor stand raises the speakers to the correct listening height and provides a stable, rigid support ensuring that you get the very best from your speakers. The heavy base ensures stability and the columns can be filled with Atacama Atabites to add mass and damping.
Compatibility: The Bowers & Wilkins FS700 S3 speaker stand has been designed by Bowers & Wilkins to perfectly match their 700 Series bookshelf loudspeakers - including the 707 S3, 706 S3, and 705 S3 (all sold separately). The FS700 S3 places the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series speakers at the perfect height for optimum audio performance. The 700 Series bookshelf loudspeakers are secured to the stand using the included hardware and the threaded inserts under the loudspeaker. This speaker stand can also be used with other brands of bookshelf loudspeakers of similar size and weight (however, there is no hardware to secure other brands of speakers to the stand).
High-Quality Construction: The Bowers & Wilkins FS700 S3 speaker stand uses aluminium, steel, and MDF construction. The top-plate is made of solid steel, while the bottom base is made of heavy-duty MDF. The upright post is made of aluminium and is hollow so you can add filler to it to make the stand even heavier. It comes in a black or silver finish.
Wire & Cable Management: The rubber or spike feet of the speaker stand raise it off the floor enough so you can route your speaker wire under the base and up through the hollow upright post to your mounted bookshelf loudspeaker.
Rubber & Spike Feet: The FS700 S3 speaker stand includes rubber and spike feet. Use the rubber feet for hardwood, tile, vinyl, and laminate flooring. Use the spike feet for carpeted flooring. The rubber or spike feet screw into the bottom of the stand. The feet are adjustable, so you can level the speaker stand on uneven floors.
Note: Due to its corrosive properties, we do not recommend filling the columns with building or beach sand.
Why Do You Need Speaker Stands?
That question is often quickly followed up with another: "Can't they just sit on the floor?" The truth is you can put the speakers wherever you like but the location and positioning absolutely and significantly effect performance. When bookshelf sized speakers are placed on the floor or against a wall their sonic output becomes 'connected' to the floor or walls. This results in sound that is muddy, distorted and lacking in clarity. Speaker stands elevate and isolate speakers from floors and walls. Sound is clearer and cleaner with much better imaging and a greater sense of realism.
Timber Floors? No problems! UK brand Atacama manufacture what we affectionately call 'spike shoes' that sit under each spike and thus eliminate damage to timber flooring. They can also be used on tile or stone floors. They are an optional extra accessory. Of course you can also use the rubber 'buttons' that are included.
How To Make Stands Even Better: Where appropriate - like here with the Bowers & Wilkins FS700 S3 Stands - the columns are hollow and can be 'filled' to further dampen vibrations & help minimise unwanted resonances and as a bonus extra, provide added stability.
