Denon B&W Turntable Streaming System
Denon components are setting new standards in their class and not just in CD Players & Amplifiers. Denon also have a long history in Turntables and that's what we have here, teamed up with an innovative Amplifier which is also a DAC and a Streamer using HEOS streaming technology.
This, seemingly unusual combination, has been percolating for quite a while with more and more people turning from playing CDs to streaming but still wanting to play their records. It's a strange old world we live in. So, we have teamed up the very clever PMA-900HNE Streaming Amplifier with their, almost as clever, DP-450USB Turntable.
Obviously, a turntable and a streaming amplifier does not a whole system make, so we have come up with a very tasty set of British speakers to complete the system. The B&W 706 S3 are some of the finest bookshelf/standmount speakers we have heard at anywhere near this price point and they sound quite wonderful on the end of the Denon 900HNE. Naturally they sound best on the optional matching FS700 S3 Stands for the ultimate in rigidity, but we'll leave that choice up to you depending on your circumstances.
What we will include, however, is some top notch speaker cable to string the system together and what better choice than the Van den Hul CS-122 Hybrid which has the neutrality and transparency required to let this system really sing.
Other friendly suggestions to round out this system include an IsoTek Power Cable and an IsoTek Power Board to make sure your mains power is squeaky clean. Denon PMA-900HNE Streaming Amplifier
At first, it looks like the PMA-900HNE is your typical integrated amplifier with the nice addition of digital inputs, and if that was all it was it would be quite enough at the attractive price. But then you learn that this is actually a streamer as well with the ability to play all the main streaming services such as Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer & Amazon Music. But wait, there's more, the 900HNE is also Roon Tested which is pretty cool and it can work with both Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant which is even cooler.
Of course, despite all this icing, there is still plenty of cake with analogue inputs, including MM/MC phono, and digital inputs, including Coaxial, Optical & USB-A, and a solid, thoughtfully designed amplifier that will happily power most speakers in medium sized rooms. All up, a very nice, very unassuming package.

B&W 706 S3 Bookshelf/Standmount Speakers
The 706 S3 is an outstanding stand mount loudspeaker for use in larger spaces. Thanks to its decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter and carefully upgraded crossover, it provides exceptional detail and insight into your music, while its substantial 165mm (6.5") Continuum Cone bass/midrange drive unit provides ample scale and extension. Like its 705 S3 sibling, it performs at its best on the optional FS700 S3 stand.
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behaviour that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
The 700 S3 range features a curved front baffle for the first time. This allows the midrange and bass drivers to be located in individual pod-type housings that sit proud of the speaker baffle. When combined with the curvature of the structure, this advanced approach – derived from the 800 Series Diamond – reduces the audible impact of the cabinet, creating a cleaner, more open and more immersive sound.
