About The Isotek EVO3 Sequel Power Cable
IsoTek is an English company making award-winning power optimisation products for hi-fi and home cinema systems. You can increase the performance of your audio and video components and the IsoTek EVO3 Sequel Mains Power Cable is a highly recommended upgrade.
Before we discuss the product details of the EVO 3 Sequel mains power cord, lets review some of the reasons why people like us and our friends at IsoTek really believe you need to seriously consider upgrading your mains power cords.
The standard black mains leads supplied with your audio and AV components is designed to do a basic job at the cheapest price and absolutely no more. It doesn't matter on a kitchen appliance, but they lack the quality of materials and construction needed to protect the integrity of the electricity feeding your system, thereby degrading performance. Outside interference from Radio Frequencies (RFI) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) can't be seen with your eye, but your mains power cable is just like an antenna picking up this unwanted noise. The first rung on the IsoTek ladder is to replace these power cords with products from one of the four different ranges based on the value of your system.
Of course, you will get the best by choosing the top-of-the-range EVO3 Optimum mains power cord no matter what you've spent on your system, but realising that approach is not practical and would simply have most of you dismiss an upgrade, Isotek have manufactured a range of four mains power cables that all help reject outside interference but to varying levels. As you move through the IsoTek range the performance level increases, with an array of mains cables and power optimisation devices to suit any audio or AV setup.
Premier: Part of the Discovery Series and for any component priced between A$500 and A$2,000. A simple upgrade that delivers great results.
Sequel: A step up from the Premier mains power cable and nicely priced. Recommended for any component priced between A$1,500 and A$4,000.
Elite: Part of the Performance Series and recommended for any component priced between A$3,000 and A$10,000. Extremely high quality materials used for construction given the price. The penultimate product.
Optimum: Cutting edge in every area and essential when your system is more valuable than your motor car! Part of IsoTeks Ultimate range.
A Closer Look At The Sequel Power Cable
Hailed by reviewers worldwide for breaking new ground at its price point, IsoTek's entry level EVO3 Premier is a high performance, low-cost power cable that offers a realistic solution for anyone seeking an affordable upgrade over the freebie 'kettle' leads supplied with most audio and AV equipment.
The new EVO3 Sequel now joins the list as an upgraded product over Premier but still a highly affordable mains power cable offering a number of additional benefits. EVO3 Sequel power cable offers increased performance over IsoTek's multi-awardwinning entry level EVO3 Premier, by featuring optimised conductor strand geometry and active shielding. Sequel has taken more than two years of development. Sourcing of specialist high quality materials and the design and development of IsoTek's own bespoke and unique 24ct gold plated copper connectors are included.
Like the Premier, it uses silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors twisted together to aid EMI/RFI rejection, but in the Sequel the conductor geometry is improved with optimised thickness of the individual strands. The Sequel also incorporates more advanced 'active' shielding under its PVC outer sheath, to the same standard used in IsoTek's more costly power cables.
Construction: The conductors are in a parallel construction with slight rotational twist. This established technique remains the first line of defense against RFI and EMI rejection.
Conductors: Silver plated 99.9999% OFC conductors offer an exceptional level of purity with enhanced conductivity. They are less likely to fracture or degrade over time. Silver is an excellent conductor and when combined with a high purity copper provides impressive electrical properties.
Insulation: Teflon FEP dielectric (insulation) is chemically inert and has a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. FEP possesses a very high degree of stress crack resistance and a low coefficient of friction making it an exceptional dielectric. FEP is the first choice for safety in both temperature and electrical insulation.
Filler: Cotton filler has been used to give the cable internal strength and reduce microphony. Cotton also possesses excellent dielectric properties, the best of a solid material.
Wrap: A mylar wrap (compared with paper on Premier) is used to secure the construction and offer a barrier shield prior to the application of a flexible PVC jacket. The addition of the mylar and cotton form a buffer with the PVC so as to maintain exceptional dielectric properties.
Shield: An earthed OFC shield insures maximum RFI rejection, thus preventing Common Mode noise effecting the live and neutral conductors. This is an upgrade on Premier.
Jacket: PVC is used as an outer jacket to give a high degree of flexibility and mechanical strength.
Terminations: Sequel cable is terminated using IsoTek's bespoke Audiophile grade moulded connectors of solid OFC with 24ct gold plated conductors. These offer the highest quality performance and will not tarnish, well for many, many years even decades!
Our Take On The Isotek EVO3 Sequel Power Cable
IsoTek Premier uses high quality materials with intelligent construction to deliver a power cable of outstanding performance and mechanical integrity, which will not degrade over time or break your bank balance. Obviously a mains power cord is only a part of the solution to improved audio clarity. The ultimate is of course a combination of both IsoTek mains power cords and an IsoTek power conditioner, but starting with the power cords at least gives you the assurance that you have made the best connection to the mains and are minimising external interference.
