About Klipsch CP-6 Outdoor Speakers

Mount the Klipsch CP-6 outdoor speakers in a corner or under your eaves with the included brackets. All-weather enclosures and rust-proof aluminum grilles will with-stand the elements, ensuring years of great performance. We are also advised that "CP" does not stand for Canadian Pacific RR!

Great music doesn't have to stay inside your home and with a pair of CP6's you can choose either inside or outside! That's because the Klipsch CP-6 speakers are designed to withstand both the rigours of outdoor use, while also complimenting your indoor décor as either a stereo pair in a second zone or surround speakers in a home theatre system thus providing a unique, multi-functional sound solution for any zone in your home.

Horn Technology: Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to direct them toward your ears. To help improve realism, Klipsch places their 19mm (0.75") dome tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area. This design brings out details in everything you listen to, while reducing reflections that can colour the sound. The Tractrix Horns deliver a 90-degree by 90-degree dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage and it also improves dynamics and efficiency, for impressive sound that remains crystal-clear at quite high volume levels relative to the speaker's capacity. This is paired to a 133mm woofer with a long-throw voice-coil and with a high efficiency of 94db helps pump out decent sound.

Weather Resistant Cabinet: The Klipsch CP-6 loudspeakers feature an anti-resonant, weather resistant, mineral-filled cabinet. The speaker also include weather resistant, powder-coated aluminium grilles (logos rotate). Both the cabinets and grilles are paintable.

Speaker Terminals: The two speaker screw-terminals are accessible from the speaker's front baffle; a rubber terminal protects the screw-terminals. Push the speaker wire through the middle channel on the speaker's back cabinet until its pushed through to the speaker's front baffle, and then attach the speaker wire to the screw-terminals using a philips-head screwdriver. If you have pre-installed thicker cable, you may want to buy some spade terminations and attach these 'after' you have fed the wire through as it will make the job easier.

Mounting Options: The included wall-brackets allow you to mount the CP-6 speaker horizontally or vertically against a wall. The speaker's V-shaped profile even allows you to tuck the speaker into a corner using the supplied wall-brackets. The solid wall-mount bracket system assures a fast and easy installation. There are two keyhole slots on back of the wall-bracket but the consumer needs to organise the mounting screws which are not included. Weighing just over 2.5kg each you will need to make sure you mount them securely and preferably use a stud for your screw. Once installed, you can adjust the angle of the speaker without any tools. The CP Series speakers also have two 1/4"-20 threaded inserts (not metric) for attaching suitable 3rd party wall-brackets that you may wish to purchase. Alternatively, the CP-6 multipurpose speaker can be simply placed on a shelf or stand.

Our Take

The Klipsch CP-6 are nearly perfect and produce clean, crisp sounds with good bass and no "muddy" sound. They work well at delivering audio over a medium sized area without any reduction in quality. From hands-on experience, we have found that you don't normally play outdoor speakers at "party" volumes. You may want to but the neighbours will probably call the men in blue and additionally excessive volume will kill the conversation something that usually goes well with the outdoor theme and friends. So if this sound like you and you want something that has way better than average performance, then get your hands on a pair or two of Klipsch CP-6. Of course if you live on "acreage" and want to fill the great outdoors with concert-level sound then you will need a combination of CP-6's and other above-ground and maybe in-ground speakers.

Finally, the mounting brackets. These are solid and actually big enough for your drill to fit through while attaching your screws. This is a small point but will be helpful if you intend to do a DIY install and you will be working off (an appropriate) ladder. Audio Trends has had decades of experience with outdoor speakers and a number of the staff have them installed in their own backyards. So we are not only enthusiastic about music outdoors but can speak authoritatively on the subject and make recommendations that will suit your needs.
