About Onkyo
Takeshi Godai established Onkyo in 1946 with the intention of addressing what he felt was a lack of satisfactory Japanese-made dynamic speakers. The word "onkyo" means "sound acoustics" in Japanese.
Through the years that followed Onkyo became expert at many types of AV products including a crystal cartridge, meticulously crafted speakers (including the first plastic speaker cones in Japan), desktop transistor radios and even televisions. In 1958 Onkyo was among the first to introduce separate components rather than the all-in-one furniture style systems that had been so popular up until then. Portable transistor radios followed in 1961 & medical equipment in 1963. In the 70's the Integra line of electronics was established which has been amazingly successful over the years. Turntables followed and then Onkyo released the world's first high-speed dual-recording cassette deck in 1981 followed by some of the first CD Players a couple of years later. 1992 saw the release of the world's first 6 disc carousel type CD player (just so you know who to blame) which became a big trend in the 90's. This is also the decade home theatre happened and Onkyo immediately became one of the prominent players with the world's first THX 5.1 channel AV Receiver with Dolby Digital.
Since then, Onkyo has continued to be at the forefront of Audio Visual technology, bringing high class audio and vision into thousands of homes in Australia and across the globe.
Our Take On The Onkyo TX-RZ70
Introducing the latest, greatest home theatre receiver from Onkyo, the TX-RZ70. With audio processed by built-in ESS Sabre DACs and video connections that accept 8K Ultra HD signals, this feature-packed Onkyo delivers audiophile and cinephile performance. It's a centrepiece for your whole home audio and video system, too, with three-zone wired capabilities and more wireless zones with the addition of a Sonos Port and other Sonos gear.
The TX-RZ70 can power up to 11 speakers at the same time. Use all 11 channels in a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos or DTS:X® system. Or, go with a more conventional surround sound setup, and repurpose the extra channels for sound in up to two additional zones. At 140 watts per channel (2-channels driven), the TX-RZ70's high-powered amplifier will drive your speakers with precision and impact. If you have unused surround channel connections, you can bi-amp a pair of compatible front right and left speakers for a powerful front soundstage.
Dirac Live® is one of the finest room correction systems in the industry, and it comes standard on the 'RZ70. Use the included microphone and run the Dirac software on your laptop to take precise sound measurements in your room. If you have Klipsch Reference or Reference Premiere speakers, the 'RZ70 is made for you. Select your speakers for each channel in the setup menu, and the Klipsch Optimize Mode automatically selects the correct crossover mode for the best performance. Your Klipsch speakers have never sounded better!
Onkyo equipped the TX-RZ70 with the latest video technology. All six of its rear-panel HDMI inputs support 8K and 4K video content — perfect for high-quality sources like a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, an Apple TV, or your next-gen gaming system. (The front-panel HDMI input supports 4K/60 video content.) Stream music with Bluetooth or play Wi-Fi networked sources like Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, DTS Play-Fi and Spotify® Connect. Use the optical or coaxial digital inputs to connect a CD player, or break out your vinyl collection and connect your turntable to the dedicated phono input. For uncompromising sound quality, you can play high-resolution music files from a USB stick or a networked computer.
If you can think of anything important the Onkyo TX-RZ70 doesn't have, you're doing better than us. Another stellar Home Theatre Receiver from Onyko.
