Van den Hul The D-352 Hybrid – 8 Metres for Front Left, Right & Centre Speakers
The Van den Hul D-352 Speaker Cable is everything we've come to expect from this cable maker - fatigue free, a big bold spacious presentation with the finesse that good audio equipment deserves. A cable that manages to combine the qualities of copper, silver and carbon into a truly great sounding, yet affordable package.
The D-352 is the next step up from the popular CS-122 and sounds even better. More substantial in every way, the D-352 digs a little deeper, has a slightly more gutsy bass, a larger scale & soundstage presentation and is a touch richer in balance. The best thing about the entire Van Den Hul range is the total lack of fatigue when listening for long periods. Many cable brands tend to shout at you to get the message across but Van Den Hul cables are faithfully transparent to the sound of the music and always leave you feeling relaxed after a listening session.
Each lead is made of 296 x 0.15 mm Matched Crystal (MC) high purity Oxygen Free Copper strands with a dense and very pure silver coating. Covering the two conductors is an extra layer saturated with Linear Structured Carbon that has been applied to improve the sonic performance and to transform the radiated magnetic field into an audio signal again. Of course, the cable jacket is made from van den Hul's own HULLIFLEX 3, a very flexible and mechanically superb insulation material. The resistance per lead is an impressive 0.34 Ohm/100 meter. Total metal cross-section area for each conductor is 5.23 mm², equalling AWG 10 which is very thick and definitely at a level where substantial terminations will be required. Another thing in common to some other Van den Hul speaker cables is the outer construction. The plus and minus leads are different in jacket-shape with printing in the flat middle section. Both properties are easy polarity-finders.
Van den Hul The Clearwater – 20 Metres For Rear Surround Speakers
A great way to get into a high quality silver plated speaker cable for a very reasonable price. Van den Hul The Clearwater has detail and clarity to spare combined with a natural appealing warmth.
With the design of The Clearwater, it was AJ Van den Hul's intention to produce the best match between quality and price. The decision was taken to work with 2 groups of strands with a conductor size of AWG 14; this was because in many situations the distance between the amplifier and the loudspeakers is limited. Therefore a twin-lead construction was made with 2 x 98 strands of a dense very pure silver coated Matched Crystal Oxygen Free Copper.
Sonically this cable is a great product with a very balanced overall quality. There is no harshness and the spatial reproduction is superior. Just as its name suggests: "The sound is as clear as water". But don't just take our word for it, What Hi-Fi? QED Reference 40 – 3 Metre Subwoofer Cable
It is rare for any surround sound system to come supplied with speaker cables and even rarer for it to come with a Subwoofer cable. Yes, they come with a power cable, but you need to connect the subwoofer to the receiver with another RCA type cable which has been specially manufactured to just handle the low frequencies.
The QED Reference Subwoofer 40 exhibits an ultra-high standard for timing, accuracy and rhythm. For QED fans, this is the cable you want for your 'dream' subwoofer. The folk at QED have thrown all their expertise and available materials to deliver a premium product and at a price that isn't excessive. The QED Signature Analoc locking connectors are fitted at both ends for a snug fit.
QED Subwoofer 40 has been designed primarily for low capacitance, as this has been identified by QED as a major factor making for a tight sound which retains the rhythm of the original piece - vital when it comes to the 'bottom end!" Minute timing errors are ameliorated by the use of QED's Complementary Conductor Technology combined with a special floating Zn/Mn ferrite jacket to absorb very high frequency noise signals outside the audible band. The QED Analoc plug design helps to control eddy currents which can also affect the micro-timing of the audio signal, maintaining high- fidelity from start to finish.
What You Get In The Pack
This is a 5.1 Surround Cable Pack which includes speaker cable to connect from your home theatre receiver or amplifier to five speakers. There is 8 metres of Van den Hul The D-352 Hybrid speaker cable for your three front speakers. This is usually split into two 3 metre cables for your Left & Right speakers and a 2 metre cable for your Centre speaker.
D-352 is 10 AWG gauge wire and is too large to use without plugs on most amplifiers and speakers. In this pack we have included 12 x Taga Harmony Banana Plugs (6 red & 6 black) for the three front speaker cable runs. The cables can quite easily be stripped back to reveal the bare speaker wire and then the plugs can be fitted.
There is also 20 metres of Van den Hul The Clearwater speaker cable for your rear surround speakers. The rear speaker cables have no plugs attached. The cables can quite easily be stripped back to reveal the bare speaker wire and can then be used without plugs. If you would like to use plugs that can easily be fitted at home, we recommend the Taga Harmony Banana Plugs. If you want to fit plugs to each end of the rear speaker cables you will need a total of 8 plugs (4 red & 4 black).
A 3 metre QED Reference 40 subwoofer cable is supplied, with QED's special Analoc locking RCA plugs fitted to each end, to connect from a home theatre receiver or amplifier to a subwoofer.
