Wharfedale SW-10 Subwoofer

Wharfedale's vision behind the SW series has long been clear: deliver a level of performance previously unheard of in its class and introduce listeners to the beauty of bass. The SW series takes this one step further, making your first serious step into the world of the subwoofer more exciting, more dynamic and more compelling. Truly feel – in your chest – the high-impact excitement of your favourite films. Follow with vivid detail the stunning textures of bass guitar riffs, drum beats and cello notes like never before. Experience all that you've been missing thanks to the SW-10.

SW-10 is designed to support your system – no matter its specifications – to significantly enhance your listening experience, not overpower it. So SW is subtle when there, but blindingly obvious when it's not. Its non-pressed paper cones increase self-damping and improve the structural rigidity of the cone itself. This helps overcome muddied and distorted bass detail to deliver taught, high impact bass response. Kick drums snap perfectly to the beat, cinematic explosions blast in time to the visuals, all of it designed to complement the effects of your loudspeakers and enhance their sonic performance.

The SW-10 features a 254mm (10") active dynamic cone driver delivering a frequency response between 40Hz - 120Hz. This ensures that SW-10 provides fast, accurate and intensive bass response. Cabinet size is 358 x 336 x 366mm so that subwoofer placement is easy and non-invasive. It comes with a 200W power amplifier with a 350W peak power output, meaning deep and expressive bass notes when they're needed. And SW-10 comes finished in black, matching seamlessly with fellow award winning Wharfedale series loudspeakers and perfect for your home environment.

About Wharfedale

Wharfedale Wireless Works was founded by Gilbert Briggs in 1932, soon after he built his very first loudspeaker in the cellar of his home in Ilkley, Yorkshire. This sleepy little market town was located in the valley of the river "Wharfe" – an area known to this day as 'Wharfedale'. This unlikely location would see the birth of a brand that has become recognized all over the world, synonymous with quality in high-fidelity reproduction.

In 1981 the first Wharfedale Diamond speaker was born. The rather unassuming small box took the industry by storm. Small cabinets and the stiff, yet light polypropylene driver meant a very fast, tight sound and compact, accurate two-way drivers produced a fantastic stereo image. It quickly became a best seller and the Diamond range has continued to this day as a staple in the Wharfedale catalogue.

Now, with more than 75 years of setting the standards in perfecting loudspeaker performance, Wharfedale, in order to remain at the forefront of audio, has dedicated 1.5 million square feet to design & manufacturing in which every single product and process takes place in-house. With this ability to control every single part of the process, Wharfedale's speakers achieve a harmony in performance and design rarely seen elsewhere.

Our Take On Wharfedale SW Subwoofers

The range of SW subwoofers from Wharfedale comes with a host of great features. They feature non-pressed paper cones for increase self-damping, improved transient impact. Wharfedale engineers also improved structural integrity of the cone itself. Centre vents are copper lined to reduce magnetic distortion and improve heat dissipation in the driver for even greater reliability.

The newly designed amplifier modules used in SW subwoofers are solid and diligently engineered. These new amplifier designs are optimised for high impact at low frequencies and are ideal for both movies and music.

Available with a Black finish these new Wharfedale subwoofers will fit into most environments, and are designed to complement both with bookshelf or floorstanding speakers and even satellite speaker systems.
